Blood donation drive - Patna

The St. Xavier's Alumni Association, Patna successfully conducted the annual blood donation camp on September 30, 2012 at the school. This was arranged in association with the Mahavir Cancer Institute, Patna and we are more than sure that this activity of ours will help many poor people who come to this institute for treatment of cancer. Around forty Alumni donated blood on this occasion.

A basketball match between the school team and the alumni team was held on 8-October-2012. The alumni once again proved their worth by defeating the school team with a huge margin. It was a festive atmosphere in the school and a number of our alumni joined the function.
 

St.Joseph's College, Bangalore Solar Powered

St. Joseph's College Bangalore is a Jesuit run College since 1872. As part of it's fight against Global warming the college has installed a 100 KW Solar Power system, a first of its kind in South India under the Jawaharlal Nehru Solar mission. The system consists of 432 solar photo-voltaic panels each with a capacity of 230 W peak and a 100KW Delta solar inverter.

Covering a roof area of 11,000 sq. ft. and weighing close to 20 tons the system powers all types of electric loads on campus from lights, laboratory equipment, air conditioners, elevators and water pumps. The system generates an average of 425 KWH daily.

As responsible citizens, St. Josephs College, Bangalore has made a commitment to fight global warming. The solar electric system will reduce Carbon Dioxide emissions by 7600 Kg. per month and approximately 91,000 Kg. annually. During the 25 year life span of the solar electric system, the college hopes to reduce carbon emissions by 23 lakh Kg.

Governor releases Jesuit Economist’s book

By Koushik Hati Kolkata: The Governor of West Bengal had released a book on economics authored by the principal of a Jesuit college in the City of Joy. The Governor, M.K. Narayanan released the book, Disinvestment in India - Trends, Problems and Prospects, by Jesuit Father Felix Raj on Sept. 11, at the St Xavier’s College auditorium.

Fr Felix is the principal of Jesuit-run St Xavier’s College in Kolkata, and teacher of economics in the college. Calling the book “an extremely well conceived and a technically near perfect treatise”, the Governor suggested, “despite not being an easy read, the book should be made an essential read for under-graduate and post-graduate students of economics”.

St. Mary's ICSE wins Independence football

It took penalty kicks to break the deadlock in the finals of the Independence day inter Jesuit alumni football tournament at St. Stanislaus High School Grounds in Bandra, Mumbai. Two teams each of alumni from St. Mary's ICSE, Holy Family and St. Stanislaus participated in a round robin 20-20 football toutnament, an annual feature at St. Stanislaus. This years tournamant was special as it was also the start of the 150 years celebrations at St. Stanislaus.

The football was followed by a swim in the school pool and fellowship. Close to 100 alumni from these three school participated. We hope to make next years tournament bigger and better with teams from the other provinces of the West Zone also participating.

Flag Hoisting at St.Xaviers HS Ahmedabad

Today morning, after Flag Hoisting on the St.Xaviers Loyola Hall Ahmedabad grounds, the APX ( Association of Past Xavierites ) played its annual football match versus the school football team. The showpiece event was a huge success, hundreds of students, management, and alumni members witnessed a great soccer match. The 'young' APX team won 3-1, and rolled back the years. The match was followed by refreshments for all present.
 
Such events enable a special bonding between the alumni, management, and students, especially on Independence Day. The students had a patriotic song competition in between the Flag Hoisting and the football match, organized by the school management.

Inauguration of St.Stanislaus Sesquicentenary

The lighting of the Inaugural Lamp signaled the onset of a series of scintillating events.  The school anthem presented by the school choir and some ex-students, including celebrity singer, Shaan, added to the excitement.  The Principal, Fr. Jude Fernandes, presented the Welcome Address, this was followed by the AV – ‘Natus Ad Maiora” 150 years and beyond.  Messages from the Chief Guest, Dr. Keki Gharda and the School Manager, Fr. Errol Fernandes, were read out by the emcee for the evening, Tr. Sanjyot Deolalikar.
 

Mini-sports to celebrate Feast of St.Ignatius of Loyola

Every year the St.Xaviers High School Loyola Hall hosts a mini-sports event to celebrate the Feast of St.Ignatius. The staff,students,management and alumni members get together and participate in this event.

Games like tug of war, passing the parcel, short sprints and relays, sack race, slow scooter race etc,are generally on the card, and everyone participates with a united spirit. The School management also invites APX and staff members for refreshments after the mini sports event. This event establishes a great comradeship between the staff,alumni and management.

APX Blood Donation drive

Association of Past Xavierites (APX), the Alumni Association of the St.Xaviers High School, Loyola Hall Ahmedabad, carried out their Annual Blood Donation Drive on Saturday July 28th. Over a hundred units were collected.
 
APX carries out a lot of social related activities along with sports events & entertainment & cultural programs and supports their ALMA MATER.  St. Xavier’s High School Loyola Hall is committed to serve the society besides being an educational institute of the highest order. 
 
The Blood Donation Drive is a JAAI National Project, to be carried out in all our provinces between 1st Oct-31st Dec every year. APX carries out this noble activity annually to co-incide with the feast of St.ignatius and also supports the JAAI program by carrying out this activity in October along with other associations in Gujarat province.
 

APX Tree Plantation DRIVE

As decided in our JAAI GC meeting in Jaipur, APX ( Association of Past Xavierites,St.Xaviers High School Loyola Hall,Ahmedabad) carried out a Tree plantation drive on the School Campus on Friday 27th July. This drive was a Times of India Initiative and supported by Gujarat Ecology Commission.
 
The Government Ecology ( Govt. of Gujarat ) officials, Times of India representatives, and the Chief Income-Tax Commissioner were present to support this cause. also present were the school Management, APX members, Staff and Students of the Primary section of the School. Skits were performed and lectures given on the importance of preserving environment. Trees were planted on the campus, with a pledge that these would be maintained and taken care of. We have attached a photograph of our APX President Bobby Chudasama planting a tree along with school students.
