APX Silver Jubilee

The Association of Past Xavierites, ( APX ), the alumni association of the St.Xaviers High School Loyola Hall Ahmedabad, is celebrating its SILVER JUBILEE year in 2013. The APX was formed on 30th January 1988. The 16 founder members were the school Principal Rev.Fr.O.Coutinho SJ, Rev.Fr.Morondo SJ, Rev.Fr.C.Dias, and 13 Ex-students: Ms.Rupal Shah, Ms.Komal Shah, Ms.Kavita Mehta, Vijay Bhatia, Rajiv Sharma, Vedprakash Agrawal, Negi Gulzar, Vinod Shah, Donald Marks, Bihari Chabria, K. Thyagrajan, Amar Gargesh and Devang Shah. Salute and kudos to these pioneers.

APX has come a long way and it has been a remarkable journey, moving from strength to strength and has now become a pillar for the Institute, supporting the ALMA MATER in all its activities, functions, infrastructure, and in all spheres where and as it can.

APX is amongst the most active Jesuit Alumni Associations not only in Gujarat Province but in India. The activities range from sports meets ( cricket, football, volleyball, handball, athletics, adventure sports ), social events ( blood donation drive, medical camps, fitness programs, social service programs, awareness drives ), lectures, plays, interaction with students and staff and management in form of outings, dinner programs, entertainment evenings etc, cultural events like GARBA, celebrating all festivals and feasts etc. Annual General Meetings take place every year, accounts are passed, and new committees are elected and formed. Communication is the forte, with letters, e-mail and sms being sent to all members regularly, updating all members and the management about the events and activities in the APX as well as Gujarat Province, West Zone and JAAI and WUJA.

This is the 25th year for the APX and the celebrations are scheduled to begin from next Saturday, that is 9th February, and many programs and events would be planned for this year, with the JAAI National Congress scheduled for 1st week of January 2014 being the climax. The National would of course be hosted by the Gujarat Province, all the Gujarat Jesuit Alumni Associations being part of this, and Ahmedabad being the host city, the two local associations, APX and TOXA would be more active.

On behalf of the APX, I take this opportunity to invite you and your family members to a musical evening on the St.Xaviers High School Loyola Hall grounds on Saturday, 9th February, 8 pm onwards. The performing orchestra is Jaykar Bhojak and his entourage, he being a familiar name in the world of music and entertainment in Ahmedabad and Gujarat. The invitation is attached here and it shall be an honor to have you grace this event, the beginning of the Silver Jubilee celebrations.

Fr. F.Durai SJ is the Principal of the Institute, and the Chairman of the APX as also the Gujarat Province Coordinator for Alumni. The current committee comprises of Bobby Chudasama ( President ) , Rupesh Patel ( Vice President ), Akshay Kapasi ( Secretary ) , Shridhar Derasari ( Joint Secretary ), Rupen Jhaveri ( Treasurer ). The communications man is Neerav Parekh, and  Darshan Jhaveri takes care of all the designing work, printing and artwork. APX member  Donald Marks ( also TOXA ) is the JAAG President. Fr. Raj SJ is the Vice Principal of the School, the management is most supportive and cooperative towards APX. The management, students, staff and APX are most interactive and supportive towards each other.
