A Moment of a life time…..scoring a goal in the Riklin Cup
Fr Riklin was a Swiss priest who spent most of his life working in India. He was the longest serving principal of St Xavier’s Fort,Mumbai and St Vincent’s,Pune.
He lead St Vincent’s as principal, from 1929 to 1950. Twenty-one long years, during which he added many more buildings and expanded St Vincent’s significantly.
Fr Riklin has a rare distinction, he served the Jesuit Society for 76years, looking after Civil works of the Jesuit society.
He also formed the Fr Riklin Band which during his time, he passionately nursed by personally guiding it every Sunday.
Incidently, Fr. Riklin Band played the national anthem before the match yesterday.
The Riklin Cup is a game played in his memory, seeped in tradition,it is played between 2 traditional rival schools of Pune, St Vincent’s and Loyola.
Thanks to both Principal’s Fr Nelton (Loyola) and Fr Titus ( St Vincent’s) who helped revive this tradition after 30 plus years.
Both sets of ex-students,VOBA & ELAN, showed a great deal of maturity in making sure we never ever take away a child’s most memorable game again.
Thank You VOBA,Thank You ELAN.
