The Association of Past Xavierites ( APX ) , the Alumni Association of the St.Xavier's High School Loyola Hall (Ahmedabad ) hosted its annual cultural event, the GARBA, to celebrate Navratri, on Saturday, 20th Oct.
The turnout of over 14,000 people included students, staff, alumni members, friends and guests. The APX sponsors the students of the school as well as students of the Mt.Carmel girls school. It was a sight to see the huge turnout celebrate this popular festival NAVRATRI, dressed in their traditional best and dancing to the tunes of the popular GARBA songs and music. The program started at 7.30pm and went on till midnight. Such programs highlight and showcase the joint harmonious efforts of the management, staff, students and alumni members, the success reflects the unity and the brand name of the Institute as well as the Alumni association. Also, the sponsorships and the ticket sales amount is much more than the costs for hosting this event and APX gives this amount every year to the School management, on an average this comes to a minimum of Rs.5 lacs, this year the amount is over Rs.5.50 lacs. ( APX hosts this program for 1 evening only )
The TOXA ( The Old Xavierites Association, St.Xaviers College Ahmedabad ) and TEXAS ( The Ex Xavierites Association of Surat ) also hosted their annual GARBA program on 20th and 21st October. Many rural Institutes across Gujarat Province have had this GARBA programs, which go a long way in establishing a strong rapport between the management, staff, students, alumni and the local citizens, besides celebrating one of the most popular festivals NAVRATRI.
