Blood Bank from: Holy Spirit Hospital.
Date: 2nd Oct 2011.
Time: from 9.30 am to 2pm.
No. of beds set-up: 6 nos.
No. of voluntary donors: 86. (31 ex-students)
Blood units collected: 63. (23 ex-students)
Donors included: Ex-students, parents of students, parishioners and others who read/heard the message.
Work flow process: filling up form => weight and blood pressure check => blood test for group and haemoglobin => Blood donation (drawing of blood) => rest and refreshments => Data entry => providing the Blood donor card and the Certificate of Appreciation.
Publicity methods: emails about 350, SMSs about 320; Facebook group message to -880; circular to parents of students in school:3500; Announcements in 5 churches and 2 gurudwaras for 2 weekends; banners in all churches and our school for over 10 days; over 25 posters in gurudwaras, medical shops, fitness centres, CCDs, societies etc.
Miscellaneous: The blood bank brought all the necessary equipments incl snacks and refreshments for donors. The associations provided lunch for all the Blood Bank staff and the organisers. All donors were provided with a donor card and a certificate of appreciation by the Blood Bank staff.
Total expenses = For above publicity and the lunch - Rs.7500/- shared by PTA and Ex-Students Assn equally.
Feedback: It was a successful event for a first attempt. Everyone suggested that this be a regular annual feature. We are sure as the word spreads, the numbers will increase.
