The Loyola Ex‑Students’ Association (LESA), in collaboration with the South Goa District Hospital, successfully conducted a blood donation camp today to commemorate the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola. This initiative was part of a nationwide campaign by the Jesuit Alumni Associations of India (JAAI), aimed at encouraging alumni across the country to give selflessly, in the spirit of the Jesuit motto: “to give and not to count the cost.”

The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from LESA members, Loyola alumni, and members of the local community. The first donor of the day was LESA President Mr. Trevor Coutinho, who led by example and set the tone for a successful event. Among the notable first-time donors was Tamara Noronha, a young student, who not only donated blood but also inspired several members of her family to do the same.

A large number of parents of current Loyola High School students also volunteered to donate blood. This strong community response was made possible through the efforts of Principal Fr. Anand SJ and Vice Principal Fr. Jimmy SJ, who actively promoted the initiative among students. An informative flyer about the blood donation camp was shared via the school’s parent WhatsApp groups, helping spread awareness and drive participation.

The camp was conducted under the professional supervision of the South Goa District Hospital medical team, ensuring that all safety and hygiene protocols were rigorously followed. Dr. Ravin Rego, Medical Officer at the hospital and a proud alumnus of Loyola High School and LESA, played a pivotal role in coordinating the medical aspects of the drive.

LESA President Mr. Trevor Coutinho, Vice President Mr. Armindo Gonsalves, and LESA members Mr. Raul Vas and Mr. Rui Cruz were present throughout the day, assisting with logistics and supporting donors. Later, Mr. Gonsalves addressed the press alongside JAAI National Secretary Mr. Emmanuel Furtado and Dr. Rego, highlighting the importance of such community-driven health initiatives and their lasting societal impact.
