Gujarat is well known to celebrate all festivals with elan, fun and respect, and NAVRATRI is no different. Jesuit Institutes and its Alumni Associations across Gujarat province celebrate the festival of nine nights, with fervour and funfare.
TEXAS, The Ex-Xavierites Association of Surat, St.Xaviers High School Surat hosted two nights of GARBA on the school grounds on 1st and 2nd Oct. Entry was free and the participants and onlookers included the Alumni members, PTA, Staff, School Management and Students. Competetions were held and prizes given away. TEXAS group is very active and this was a very nice and positive way to get everyone to enjoy on the school grounds. The timings were 7pm onwards to midnight.
TOXA, The Old Xavierites Association of St.Xaviers College Ahmedabad hosted two nights of Garba on 4th and 5th. Large crowds took part in this event, tickets were priced at Rs.150 per person, Alumni members were given free entry, and the Staff and College management were present in large numbers. The GARBA went on till well past midnight on both the nights.
APX, The Association of Past Xavierites, St.Xaviers High School Loyola Hall Ahmedabad hosted its GARBA on 1st Oct. Over 13,000 people were present, the crowds included Students, Staff, School Management, Alumni Members Friends and Garba revellers. Tickets were priced at Rs.150 per person, Staff, Students and Alumni/ae were given free entry. Mt.Carmel Convent school girls were invited to participate in this GARBA. The APX helped the School in making a profit of almost 5 lac rupees. The timings were 7.30 pm to midnight. Competetions were held early on and prizes given away.
Many Jesuit Schools and Alumni Associations in rural Gujarat held their GARBA during school hours, and also in the evening and mostly this was for the Staff, Students and Alumni members. St.Xaviers Bhiloda ( 3 hours from Ahmedabad ) hosted one such Garba and a Garba was held for School students in St.Xaviers Gandhinagar.

A highlight of these GARBA programs is that Alumni/ae members from all Associations across Gujarat Province are invited along with their family members to participate in a GARBA at any host venue. All Jesuit Alumni Associations in Gujarat Province come under the JAAG ( Jesuit Alumni Associations of Gujarat ) umbrella.
JAAI members were warmly invited to attend and participate in these GARBA.
