SSESA AGM 2011

The 25th SSESA AGM was held on 31-July 2011 in the School Museum. The AGM was well attended with active participation from all present. The overwhelming feeling of the General Body was the urgent need to change the age profile of not only the Managing Committee but also those who attend the AGM. There was an urgent need to attract young alumni.

SSESA MCIn his welcome address the President, Fr Jude Fernandes SJ spelt out the vision for our school and the number of new initiatives that had been initiated at the school to offer quality education for all. He spoke about the Jesuit Certificate Program that has been implemented at the seven Jesuit Schools in Mumbai. The certificate was based on the SIPS frame work - Social-Intellectual-Personal-Spiritual development of the child. Fr Jude mentioned that the Intellectual component was being run by our very own alumni Mr Venkatesh Srinivisan (1987) who is an alumnus of IIM-Ahmedabad and McKinsey & Company - a global management consulting firm. Venkatesh had dropped out from his high profile job to give back to his school.

Fr Jude stated that while it was important to start such programs, it was critical in the long run to sustain such programs financially. He stated it was important that alumni come forward and help support such programs in whatever way they could. This was in the context of the up-coming 2013 sesquicentenary (150 years) celebrations. He expected alumni to play a pivotal role in the celebrations and called upon alumni to volunteer in their field of expertise.

The new Managing Committee was elected for the period 2011-14 at the AGM. There are five new faces in the Committee and the General Body wished them well and hoped they would carry out the good work of the previous committees.

The meeting concluded at 1pm with all alumni present singing the school anthem with great gusto.
