VOBA Football Tournament

VOBA has been organizing the VOBA Invitational late Maj.K.P.Jadhav Football Tournament for the past 17 years. This is one of the most prestigious tournaments in Pune, instituted in memory of late Maj. K P Jadhav by his son - Mr. M.K. Jadhav and family, in which over 80 Teams keenly participate.

Maj. K.P. Jadhav was in the Gwalior State Army as ADC to H.H. Maharaja Jiwajirao Scindia of Gwalior. He was a natural athlete and a keen sportsman. He became a personal trainer for the horses owned by the Maharaja of Gwalior and also trained horses owned by the Maharaja of Baroda & Kolhapur. He was a good rider and took part in Polo, Show Jumping, Tent pegging and was made a judge for equestrian sports at Bombay and Pune.

This trophy has been instituted to keep alive the memory of a great sportsman who loved sports and was always keen to encourage youngsters to be sportsmen.

Alumni Environmental Action through Social Entrepreneurship

Christopher Pereira and Denzil Rego are alumni of St. Stanislaus High School Bandra. They are also social entrepreneurs with a passion for the environment. Read the article in Indian Expres of 25-September 2011

 

Alumni Exchange Programme with Spain

  1. The exchange program with Spain should take place some time in May-June 2012.
  2. The forms should be submitted before 15th December 2011.
  3. The estimated expenses per person would be approximately Rupees One Lakh.
  4. The duration of the program would be approx 2 weeks, one week of community service and one week of tourism.

Campion School honours grassroot teachers

Reach Education Action Programme (REAP) http://www.reapchild.org was born out of a need to combat illiteracy and ensure every child is in school. Fr. Trevor Miranda SJ is the founder and Director of the REAP program. An opportunity for alumni organizations to collaborate and act with REAP.

Education Innovation Fund for India (EIFI)

The Education Innovation Fund for India (EIFI) is a collaborative project between the HP Office of Global Social Innovation and the India Council for Integral Education (ICIE), an initiative of the Sri Aurobindo Society. The purpose of EIFI is to identify and collaborate with significant innovation projects in education that can be scaled to the next level of operation, through the award of an EIFI Grant.

APX celebrate Independence Day

Association of Past Xavierites ( APX ), participated in the Flag Hoisting on the school premises at 9 am, followed by a patriotic song program by the school students. A football match followed after this, APX vs the School team and the YOUNG alumni team won in a match spread over 2 halves, each of 30 minutes. This thriller of a match was witnessed by hundreds of students, staff and alumni members, refreshments were served. Programs like this go a long way in uniting and establishing ties betweem the school management, staff, students and alumni members.

St Stanislaus win Independence Day alumni football

The day began early at 7.45am with the hoisting of our National Flag and singing of our National Anthem

The alumni of St. Mary's (ISC), Holy Family HS Andheri and St. Stanislaus HS Bandra assembled at St. Stanislaus HS Bandra to celebrate our Independence Day with gusto. Jesuit school rivalries were re-ignited on the football field when grown men turned boys once again and played some very entertaining football.

Holy Family Alumni Football Tournament

The Event:The HyFyXs, (the recently adopted abbreviation for)  Holy Family High School Ex-Students Association, organised a Football tournament exclusively for the alumni of HFHS on 14th of August, 2011 on the school grounds. This is the second edition.

The Draw:The tournament was a success. We had as many as 10 teams (2 more than the last time) with each team having an average of 9 to 11 players. The matches kicked off at 8 am following which there was the first round of matches for all the teams. 5 teams in each pool which means there were two lucky teams got a bye in the first round itself. All matches were played in the spirit of camaraderie and bonhomie. Through the day more than a 100 alumni marked their presence. Look out for pictures on the FB. Most of the players were youngsters -- age group 18 to 25.

Blood Donation Drive-Update

Pease take note that the JAAI blood donation drive proposed for 2nd October has been extended from 1st October to 31st December 2011. Next year onwards a fixed one date will be decided.

All Province Coordinators and JAAI General Council members are requested to spread this message regarding this most noble cause, and all associations can carry out this activity. This should kick start many more activities on a common platform at a National level.

Feast of St.Ignatius of Loyola

The celebrations of the Feast of St.Ignatius at the St.Xaviers High School Loyola Hall, Ahmedabad was hosted by the Association of Past Xavierites. Alumni members participated in the tug of war vs. the school heavyweights and emerged champs. Members also witnessed many more events along with the staff, management and students. Later members were invited to have refreshments with the staff and management, indeed a perfect day to uphold the spirit and tradition of Jesuit education and Alumni values and entertainment.
