St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, has three Padma awardees this year 2013

  1. Adi Godrej received the Padma Bhushan for Industry,
  2. Dr. Mustansir Barma - Director of the TIFR in Mumbai and a member of the Academic Board of our Autonomous College received the Padma Shri
  3. Ms. Mahrukh Tarapor received the Padma Shri for Art and Culture.

This year's three, come close on the heels of last year's 5 ! In 2012:

  1. Mr. Mario Miranda received posthumously the Padma Vibhushan.
  2. Dr. Jose Pereira received the Padma Bhushan for Literature and Education.
  3. Ms. Shabana Azmi, received the Padma Bhushan for Art and Cinema.
  4. Dr. Ms. Vidya Dehejia received the Padma Bhushan for Art
  5. Dr. Ms. Swati Piramal received the Padma Shri for Trade and Industry.

APX Flag hoisting and cricket match

APX (Association of Past Xavierites, St.Xaviers High School Loyola Hall Ahmedabad) members attended the Republic Day Flag Hoisting cermony at 9 am today on the school grounds. The staff, students and management were present along with APX members.

A cricket match followed, an annual match between APX and the alumni of a leading Commerce College of Ahmedabad. This is the 6th year in a row that such an event was being held and is hosted alternatively between the two competiting teams.  Members of both the associations participate in the revelry in large numbers, breakfast and lunch was served to all.

The management of both the Institutes were present at the event and support this inter alumni activity. The management of the St.Xaviers High School Loyola Hall provide wonderful facilities for playing, uniforms and caps were also provided, as also the cricket kit. The management supports the APX wholeheartedly in all its activities.

Thank You for the Biggest Bond of Boys

Over 850 alumni along with past and present Teachers and Principals assembled on the School Background on 5th January 2013 to spend a few precious moments with friends and batchmates to relive their memories at St. Stanislaus High School. It was an evening when grown men became boys once again.

There was Class of 1988 easily recognizable with their self-made custom T-shirts just for the evening. There were alumni from as far back as 1942 to as recent as 2012 all sharing one passion “Proud to be a Stanislite”
